My Thoughts:
This was a very interesting read! It's another futuristic (Dystopian) type book, where the United States is all destroyed and the world is uninhabitable. I'm not usually a big fan of those books, since they freak me out. I don't like thinking too hard about "end of the world as me know it" kind of things. The difference with this one that I liked was twofold: 1. the focus on the characters 2. the hope. I really love the idea of the human spirit still breaking through and the undeniable longing that we all have for God and His love, even in a place like "The State," where people are genetically created to be emotionless. Thalli and Berk are great characters and I look forward to seeing what happens to them next. It's nice to see a teen Dystopian book with heart and hope in something greater than ourselves. The references to the "Designer" are cool.
