Sometimes we take our health for granted. We keep piling on more stress, less sleep, and bad food choices and expect our bodies to keep working as always. I know I've been doing that. I've been pushing forward through too much stuff but not honoring my body's needs in the process. And not honoring God by mistreating it.
Yesterday I had a bit of a wake up call. I knew that the events of the summer and even the craziness of last spring have put a lot of stress on me, but I didn't realize how bad it was until I went to the doctor yesterday. After taking my blood pressure multiple times and discussing some other issues (including my weight), my doctor gave me a very stern warning about my health. If I don't start addressing my health and making it a priority, I'm headed to some serious problems.
It may seem crazy, but I feel like this is what I needed. I needed the wake up call. I needed to be told that I have to make the time to work on my health. I'm actually happy about it because it gives me the motivation to stop and reassess things.
So, here's my plan. I'm going to spell it out so you can help keep me accountable.
1. Drink more water.
2. Long walks at a nice pace--brisk but not stressful.
3. Cut out sugar and white flour items.
4. Heart-supporting supplements.
5. More positive self-talk.
6. A plan for my schedule that allows for time for things I enjoy (reading/sewing).
What do you think? Sound doable? I need help sticking to it. I appreciate your support with this! Let me know if you have any advice on lowering blood pressure!
