I have to warn you, the Thursday New Release Giveaways are in danger of extinction! Sadly, there hasn't been much interest, so we'll see how the reaction is this week and then re-evaluate. If you'd like to see the giveaways continue, I'd love to hear your thoughts on how to get more interest.
This week's book is a great book! Anyone who has struggled with weight issues or self-esteem issues (and who hasn't?), should want to read this book!
First some housekeeping. How to enter...
Here are the rules for the giveaway:
1. Post a comment below.
2. In the post include an answer to the random question of the week.
Today's Question: In this book, Ellyn turns to food when she needs comfort. What's your go-to when you need to feel comforted?
My Answer: I turn to cookies way too often--especially fresh-baked ones! I'm trying to learn to turn to prayer and a walk instead, but it's a life-long journey for me.
3. Be sure to leave some way for me
to reach you should you win (an email preferably).
4. Closing date to enter for this book is: April 19. Winner will be
announced on April 20.
Today's Book is Invisible by Ginny Yttrup!
Description:
Ellyn DeMoss -- chef, café owner, and lover of butter -- is hiding
behind her extra weight. But what is she hiding? While Ellyn sees the
good in others, she has only condemnation for herself. So when a
handsome widower claims he’s attracted to Ellyn, she’s certain there’s
something wrong with him.
Sabina Jackson -- tall,
slender, and exotic -- left her husband, young adult daughters, and a
thriving counseling practice to spend a year in Northern California
where she says she’s come to heal. But it seems to Ellyn that Sabina’s
doing more hiding than healing. What’s she hiding from? Is it God?
Twila
Boaz has come out of hiding and is working to gain back the pounds she
lost when her only goal was to disappear. When her eating disorder is
triggered again, though she longs to hide, she instead follows God and
fights for her own survival. But will she succeed?
As
these women’s lives intertwine, their eyes open to the glory within
each of them as they begin to recognize themselves as being created in
God’s image.
My Thoughts:
This book really hit home for me! I know exactly how Ellyn feels and could totally relate to her voice in her head that was constantly berating her about her weight. This is a beautiful book about learning to see oneself as being created in God's image. Wonderful book!
