1. When were you last on a 'mountaintop'? You may answer in the literal or figurative sense of the word.
I'm pretty biased about mountains, being from the Pacific NW. Here in Wisconsin where I live now, they call some of their hills "mountains," but they are definately not mountain-worthy. My favorite mountain is Mt. Baker in Washington. We hiked there every summer growing up. I love it! I haven't been up there in a few years, but I love it! I miss mountains now.
2. Do you establish and maintain a strict budget in your household?
What is one piece of financial advice you would offer someone just
starting out on their own?
We have a budget, but we don't follow it with crazy obsession. We never buy more than we can pay off that month, except our house... We watch our spending carefully. We save for emergencies. We give money away.
I like Joyce's advice here: "I think the biggest and best thing someone just starting out on their
own can do, financially speaking, is to create and keep a budget.
Besides the normal day to day expenses include a category for building
your savings every single pay period. Economically speaking, we are
living in very unpredictable times."
3. Cherries-yay or nay? Cherry pie-cherry cola-black forest cake-or a scoop of Ben and Jerry's Cherries Garcia...pick one.
Cherries-mostly nay! I like fresh cherries, but am not a big fan of cherry filling, like in pies or cherries on sundaes.
4. Should you ever discuss religion or politics with people you don't know?
Tough question. I usually avoid talking politics with others. Too easy to get in a fight or say things that could be taken the wrong way. For religion, well, I don't like to call it "religion" but I'll talk about my "faith" and be honest about it, but I try hard not to be "pushy" about it. I know that can put people off sometimes.
5. When you take a road trip do you prefer to be the driver or the passenger? Where were you headed on your last road trip?
I always prefer being the passenger! I hate driving, especially in new places.
My last road trip was to the girls' dance competition in Chicago.
6. If we peeked inside your closet, what color would we say is most prevalent?
I'm kind of boring! Mostly black and white. I do like to wear turquoise when I can.
7. Who's your favorite senior citizen and why are they special?
My mom.
Why is she special?
Because she's my mom.
