The Reluctant Prophet by Nancy Rue
It's a total surprise when 40-something Allison Chamberlain feels a divine nudge to buy a Harley motorcycle and go wherever it takes her. Soon she finds herself in the darkest corners of society, experiencing the heartache of the poor. Will she discover that healing comes through the voice of God and those who follow it?
My Thoughts:
I really loved this book! I love the way Rue writes about her characters. Allison's character is well-developed and interesting. She's funny but real. She's crazy-determined to do what she feels led to do. Boy does that take guts to do things that others mock us for, even when we feel totally called by God to do them. I wanted to know the characters in the book. I want to meet people like that who love God without pretense and who accept human frailty and love all God's children even when they are at their lowest.
The Thorn by Beverly Lewis

Meanwhile, Rose keeps house for an English widower but is startled when he forbids her to ever go upstairs. What is the man hiding?
Rose's older sister, Hen, knows more than she should about falling for the wrong man. Unable to abandon her Amish ways, Hen is soon separated from her very modern husband. Mattie, their young daughter, must visit her father regularly, but Hen demands she wear Amish attire--and speak Pennsylvania Dutch, despite her husband's wishes. Will Hen be able to reestablish her place among the People she abandoned? And will she be able to convince Rose to steer clear of rogue neighbor Nick?
