I have been on the look out for great teen books to pass along to my nieces and I found a great series in the Miracle Girls by Anne Dayton and May Vanderbilt. Four very different girls are brought together by the miracles they have experienced in their lives and they become friends. Each book features a different "Miracle Girl" and highlights the events of her life.
Book 1: Miracle Girls
These girls may look ordinary, but each one is living out her second chance at life. Too bad it's their last chance at surviving high school!
Ana Dominguez was happy in San Jose, but everything changed when her dad moved the family to Half Moon Bay, California, to open a law practice. Her parents think she's settling into her new school nicely, but she has them fooled. Riley, the most popular girl in school has picked Ana as enemy #1, and Tyler, Ana's crush, doesn't even know Ana exists. When Ana ends up in detention with Riley, her life suddenly changes. When Ana, Riley, Christine, and Zoe share their essays on "The Day My Life Changed," it turns out they have more in common than they ever would have imagined. Now as Ana lives out her faith, she and Zoe are determined to befriend Riley and Christine. But the drama of high school life has only just begun...
Book 2: Breaking Up is Hard to Do
Ana, Christine, Riley, and Zoe have grown closer than ever over the past few months, but summer is over and it's time to put their friendship to the test. It's been a little over a year since Christine Lee's mom passed away in a tragic car accident. Now her dad is engaged to Candace--"The Bimbo"--and Christine couldn't be less thrilled. When her attitude starts to take a toll on her schoolwork, the administration forces her to attend counseling sessions. At least she gets to skip gym class!
But with her father's wedding inching closer, Christine is growing even more bitter. To make matters worse, the Miracle Girls are beginning to drift apart. Christine's anger and the pressures of high school threaten to break the girls up when they need each other the most. Will they find a way to join together to help Christine come to terms with her mother's death . . . and her father's remarriage?
Book 3: A Little Help from My Friends
Zoe is used to being overlooked. As the youngest and shyest Miracle Girl, she was happy to fade into the background last year. But when she sheds her baby fat and shoots up four inches the summer before her junior year, everything changes. Now she's turning heads at school, and this new attention is beginning to strain her relationship with her sweet, serious boyfriend, Marcus. Pressure builds when Zoe's assigned partner for history class is Dean Foster--a handsome New York transplant who isn't afraid to show her how he feels. ...
Book 4: Love Will Keep Us Together
Riley McGee is struggling to find her way through the confusion of senior year. She can't decide about college, advocate for her autistic brother, and deal with an ex-boyfriend all at the same time! Will her friends find a way to keep Riley from falling apart---and keep their friendships after graduation?
