Today's Question: Has a book ever made you cry? If so, which one(s)?
My Answer: This book made me cry totally! I think because I am at such a place of wrestling with God, working through my anger over the miscarriage, that this book and Lily's own wrestling was profound for me. I was talking with a friend about my emotions and how I felt ashamed of being so frustrated when I talk with God. She reminded me that it doesn't make me a bad Christian to bring those emotions to Him, in fact, that going to Him even when we are hurting shows great faith because even though we don't understand, we go to Him. That's how Lily is in this book.

TODAY'S BOOK GIVEAWAY
Lily may have settled into life in Connecticut after her parents' divorce, but her eight-year-old brother Michael is struggling. When their mother remarries, Michael chooses to go live with his father in Washington, D.C, until the day he calls from the Baltimore-Washington airport. Lilly's home babysitting when she gets Michael's call. She has no idea about the dilemma her brother suddenly faces--and how far her faith in God is about to be tested. She does know that one of the Ten Commandments says "Honor thy father"--but what if he doesn't deserve it?
As Lilly prepares to rescue her brother, she wonders who will rescue her from frustration and anger and a family turned inside-out.
My Thoughts:
This book was just the right book at just the right time for me. Don't you love how God does that? The descriptive phrasing was amazing and beautiful, like poetry. Lily's delima about drove me crazy, because I wanted her to tell her secret so bad so her family would know why she was acting like she was. The honesty of her character to say hard things about how her relationship with God was in conflict sheds an important light on the way we all can face pain and feel hurt that God feels absent or uncaring. And how that wrestling with Him ends up bringing us to the place where we can begin to heal again.
I'm so in love with this book!
