You know the song, "It's My Party and I'll Cry if I Want to"? Well, this is my "It's My Birthday and I'll Giveaway the Books I Want to" event! My actual birthday is Friday, Feb. 27, but I can celebrate all week, right?
I've picked some books that I've been wanting to read and am giving them away.
RULES FOR ENTERING:
a. Post a comment to this blog post. Answer the silly question.
Today's silly question: Are you the kind of person who likes people to know it's your birthday or would you prefer to just go about your day as if it's a normal day? For me it seems to vary from year to year. :) This year I'm having a bunch of girlfriends over and we're playing bunco and eating brownies. For some reason I want to celebrate this year. Other years I've been fine with just a "happy birthday" from my husband and kids. I love birthdays though, and would have to admit I would be disappointed if no one acknowledged it.
b. Enter on or before March 7. Winners will be drawn on March 8. Claim your prize, if you win, within 10 days of being notified or I will redraw. (In other words, let me know you want the book and where it should be sent, should you find out your name was drawn.
c. Check back for the next giveaway!
Today's book is A Time to Gather by Sally John and Gary Smalley (book 2 in the "Safe Harbor" series)
Never before has a family so desperately needed to gather. Just months ago they were on the brink of marital disaster, now Max and Claire Beaumont are blissfully planning their re-wedding ceremony. But gathering the support of their children has been tough. Instead, Max and Claire are watching their children suffer hidden heartache. One is missing her soldier husband, another is drinking way too much, and another steadfastly hides her pain away. Claire has no choice but to fall to her knees in prayer. She daily reminds herself that "God is good," something her beloved mother-in-law taught her to do. And starting fresh at the Hacienda Hideaway is perfect--there Claire and Max fortify their strength to rebuild the family. Then, in the midst of this deeply personal journey, two strangers enter their world unexpectedly, changing all they knew and trusted about each other. Whether they embrace or reject these women will impact their family bond forever. My Thoughts: It was good to read about the Beaumont family again. I was glad to see the authors taking a look at the impact of the parents' behavior on their now-grown kids. Disfunction in a family will show itself in all different ways in the children and this family is no different. I enjoyed the book very much and appreciated the story's look at forgiveness and grace.
