A new bunch of books to giveaway!
The giveaways for this theme will be about a random series of books related only because they are about things that make me think of summer!
For this theme I have a bunch of summer things in my mind:
1. bugs--very big issue for me this summer!
2. beach
3. travel
4. storms--we've had some crazy ones this summer!
5. horses--a bit of a stretch, but relevant for me since summer is when my daughter gets to take riding lessons. She loves horses.
6. gardening/farms--growing up my life was all about working on berry farms and my moms gardens and smelling the farms in the area
7. going home to visit my family--another stretch in a way, because the books that make me think of family and "home" will be different for me
8. weddings
9. blue sky
10. dandelions
11. hiking
12. potlucks
13. crazy reality shows
14. books with the word "summer" in them
I had other words, but couldn't think of books to use to relate to them! :)

Today's summer word: "Hiking"
Today's book: In High Places by Tom Morrisey (Ok these guys are really climbing, but hiking fits with it somewhat, right?)
After the death of their mother and wife, 16-year-old Patrick Nolan and his dad relocate to West Virginia and open a rock-climbing shop. But when grief drives the elder Nolan to try increasingly dangerous feats, Patrick and the local pastor's daughter realize they must act. Will they be in time?
My Review:
I don't have time to say much about it except that I found it to be a beautiful and powerful book. I was moved by it and especially appreciated the perspective of the book coming from Patrick. Very good book! More of my thoughts soon...
