Welcome to the "Spring Cleaning" book giveaway! Somehow I have managed to get extra copies of some books and while I declutter my shelves, you will get a chance to add them to your collections!
Simple rules this time:
1) If you want to win the book being highlighted under the "Spring Cleaning" listing, just post a comment and answer my spring cleaning type question.
Today's question: Do you do any sort of spring cleaning in your home? I usually do. I think it's partly because my parents always visit in the spring and I want to make my house look really clean when they come!
2) I'll post all the winners on April 6, no matter what day the book drawing is posted. I'll try to email you if you win.
Today's books: Defiant Heart and Distant Heart by Tracey Bateman (The Westward Hearts series 1 and 2)
Defiant Heart Description:
Book One of the Westward Hearts series, orphans Fannie Caldwell and her two young siblings have spent the last three years as indentured servants under a cruel master. Desperately wanting a better life for her brother and sister, Fannie devises a plan to secretly join a wagon train heading west.
Her plan immediately runs into trouble when the handsome yet bullheaded wagon master Blake Tanner refuses to allow an unmarried woman on the train.
But Fannie's determined...she'll escape and go west with or without help!
As life on the trail tests everyone's endurance and faith, Fannie soon realizes the perils of being a single woman on the frontier. Witnessing Fannie fending off one scare after another, Blake slowly recognizes how much he cares for this alluring young woman.
My Review:
I enjoyed this pleasant, fast read. The theme of the book is really one of redemption. The wagon master, Blake, pays to free Fannie and expects nothing in return--a gift freely given.
Distant Heart description:
Antonia Rodden once dreamed of a new life and happy family out west. Now the former prostitute doubts that anybody will ever love her for anything but her looks. Wagon scout and part-time preacher Sam Two-Feathers proclaims One who forgives sins and looks beyond outward appearances. Can Sam practice---and Toni trust---what he preaches?
