Violet Dawn by Brandilyn Collins (Book 1 in the Kanner Lake Series)
About the book:
As Paige Williams slips into her hot tub in the blackness of night, she feels something wispy brush against her. Suddenly facing death, what wrenching decision must she make about her hidden past?
My Review:
This was my first book by Brandilyn Collins and I can tell it will not be my last! I found myself reading every spare minute I had so I could see how things turned out!
Collins has created a fictional place in Idaho called Kanner Lake. She even has a blog about it: Scenes and Beans where the characters from the book have "blogged" about life in Kanner Lake. It is a small community and the folks there know what's going on and secrets don't stay secret for long.
In this setting a famous actress has gone missing. And Paige Williams knows she's dead because her body ended up in Paige's hot tub. But with Paige's past, she can't have the police digging around in her history so she decides not to trust them and to get rid of the body by herself.
Meanwhile the police are just discovering that the actress is missing. And, as the story shifts viewpoints from various citizens of Kanner Lake and even flashes back to bring perspective on one of the character's life up to that point, Collins does an excellent joy of keeping the reader in suspense and telling the story seemlessly through the eyes of all these characters.

I give this book my sunny day rating and have already started reading book 2 as the 3rd book is up for the CFBA blog tour next week!
